Judged Bonsai Show at GSBF Convention 39 – Bonsai Tonight

by

The Golden State Bonsai Federation hosted its 39th convention this past weekend in Sacramento, California. The event drew attendees from across the state and across the country who came to see demos, take workshops, and catch up with friends.

The volunteers who ran the convention did a fantastic job. Thanks to everyone who helped make the demos, workshops, raffles, auctions, registration, exhibits and vendor area run smoothly and who made the weekend so much fun.

Members of clubs in good standing with GSBF were eligible to submit a single tree to compete in one of the following categories – best native species, best conifer, best deciduous bonsai, best broadleaved evergreen, best shohin and best in show. The winners in these categories were determined by headliners Ryan Neil and Bjorn Bjorholm.

Additionally, a People’s Choice Award was determined by ballots cast by visitors to the exhibit.

Here are selected photos of the trees on display including the winning entries.
