Pacific Bonsai Museum – Bonsai Empire

The Pacific Bonsai Museum is located in a wonderfully forested area, close to Seattle. It offers a great collection of over one hundred trees, all from Pacific Rim nations. We visited the museum recently, find some photos in this article as well as a video!

Museum bonsai displays
The displays at the museum are wonderfully minimal. Trees are periodically rotated between the growing area and display area in order to add variety and seasonal interest to the exhibit.

Aarin Packard from the museum
The new curator (Aarin Packard) and Oscar from Bonsai Empire. David De Groot served as the curator of the Pacific Bonsai Museum from its opening in 1989 until his retirement in 2014.
Sierra Juniper bonsai
The newly aqcuired Sierra Juniper (Juniperus occidentalis), from Ryan Neil. The tree boasts some of the most unique deadwood seen on a juniper and has been aptly nicknamed “Captain Hook.”
